Ruhaniyat means Soulfulness. The festival features the best of maestros in classical, folk and sufi music, discovered from the interiors of remote Indian villages, Turkey, Egypt, Syria etc. Music is an art form whose medium is sound.
Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. the definition of music vary according to culture and social context.
Sufi music is a genre of music inspired by Sufism, and by the works of Sufi poets. Qawwali is the most well known form of Sufi music, common in India and Pakistan . However, music is also central to the whirling dervishes and the ceremony of Sema, who use a slow, sedate form of music featuring the Turkish flute, the ney. The West African gnawa is another form, and Sufis from Indonesia to Afghanistan to Morocco have made music central to their practises. Some of the Sufi orders have taken an approach more akin to puritanforms of Islam, declaring music to be unhelpful to the Sufi way. This Sufi festival is one of the biggest of its kind, and is held in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore,Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad. Musicians from various parts of India, comprising of sufi qawwals, mystic musicians, Kabir panthis and Bauls, perform at the festival.
Sufi love songs, are often performed as ghazals and Kafi, a solo genre accompanied by percussion and harmonium, using a repertoire of songs of Sufi poets.
Even music can be used for treatments known as Music Therapy. Music therapy is an interpersonal process in which the therapist uses music and all of its facets—physical, emotional, mental, social, aesthetic, and spiritual—to help clients to improve or maintain their health. In some instances, the client's needs are addressed directly through music; in others they are addressed through the relationships that develop between the client and therapist. Music therapy is used with individuals of all ages and with a variety of conditions, including: psychiatric disorders, medical problems, physical handicaps, sensory impairments, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, communication disorders, interpersonal problems, and aging. It is also used to: improve learning, build self-esteem, reduce stress,
support physical exercise, and facilitate a host of other health-related activities.
This is the chance to see that how come someone describe the world that is impossible even to touch just it is sensible to be with it, smell it, breath it, feel it and drown ones self into this unending ocean of love and compassion!
